Temple Mount

I finally made it on to the Temple Mount after having never really tried when I was here eight years ago. It did not disappoint- it felt very peaceful and mercifully not very busy. I was able to walk about freely and take my time to enjoy the history and architecture.

It was fascinating to watch the Muslim community go about their prayers and teaching in small groups across the complex, appearing quite at home, as if it was all a extension of the family home. All the while the Jews were down below praying faithfully at the Western Wall.

After quietly saying a couple of decades of the rosary of the mysteries of the presentation and Jesus teaching in the Temple I was informed that the site was closed and I had to leave.
