When one sets out to a relatively unknown (to those not in Italy) part of the country one doesn’t expect to cross paths with FOUR people you have mutual connections with whilst waiting for a bus. It was a pleasant reminder that the world is actually quite small and that the six degrees of separation theory does in fact appear to be true.
All in all the trip to Norcia worked rather well, train from Rome to Spoleto then a bus to Norcia. The train took about an hour longer than it said it would, however when it was going through the mountains I was not overly worried, apart from house close to the edge we were!

Norcia was badly affected by an earthquake in 2016 and they are trying to rebuild the basilica there.

After a quick supper and then back to the Il Capisterium hostel it was time to actually start the walking!
