The Kidron valley in Jerusalem runs along and meets the Valley of Hinnom. Hinnom is Gehenna in Hebrew, the location of the damned or “hell”. I walked through the Kidron valley towards and up through the Hinnom valley, which took me past the tombs of kings including Absalom’s pillar. It is also in this area it is believed that Judas hanger himself.
It made for a rather pleasant walk, the sky was pregnant with rain and there was a moment I thought I would have to seek refuge in the tombs! However it was sufficiently hot that the rain held off.

The tombs of Absalom and Benei Hezir from around 2000 years ago. You could go inside and seeing the tombs is rather interesting and helps visualise what Jesus’ tomb would have been like.

The tombs had sort of antechambers – and these ones appeared to have larger entrances compared to some of the older tombs I saw on the Mount of Olives.
